189th hearing of Irish girl Danielle McLaughlin's brutal rape and murder trial on 31st March 2023, Friday.
While a trivial, malafide and almost spurious "defamation trial" is disposed off in 9 days; Danielle's mother is fighting for justice for more than 6 years.
It would be 189th hearing of Irish Girl, Danielle McLaughlin's brutal rape and murder trial,at Palolem,Goa; on Friday, 31st of March 2023.
Danielle was brutally raped, murdered, and her face disfigured by the accused, Vikat Bhagat, a local of Canacona Goa, who is currently in judicial custody.
She provoked no local, instigated no local. Danielle was in love with India and Goa.
Trial evidence is still being recorded, for the case, which started on 4th July 2017.
The accused has been trying all sorts of legal loopholes, to prolong the trial, as highlighted in this publication earlier.
Summons are still to be served and witnesses yet to be recorded. State is severely lacking in ensuring a speedy trial.Just because, the accused is a local and has deep pockets to prolong the trial.
Prima facie it seems, that accused, wants to prolong the trial, as much as he can, so that, he gets the actual sentenced reduced, citing the time he has already spent in judicial custody, and arguing that it should be counted in the sentence awarded.
Judicial custody in Central Jail Colvale, is a very convenient place to be in, given the reputation, the Jail and it's administration has. As long as you are within the 4 walls, you can get almost everything, if you pay the right price for it.
Prosecution and State should take a note of, what are the deliberate attempts being made to get the trial, run till eternity; and push for a speedy justice.
While, in a country where, a spurious and farce defamation suite, against an opposition leader is disposed off along with the sentence within 9 days; Danielle's family is fighting for justice for more than 6 years.
