190th Hearing Of Danielle McLaughlin's Rape & Murder trial tomorrow.
Accused Vikat Bhagat and Goa Police making all efforts to delay and scuttle the case, still.
Danielle McLaughlin's rape and murder trial's 190th hearing has been scheduled for tomorrow at 1430 hrs.
While considerable progress has been made by the Hon'ble District and Sessions Court of Margao in the last hearing on 31st of March 2023; there was another attempt made by the accused Vikat Bhagat to scuttle the court case.
Again a wireless message was received from the Jailor of Colvale Central Jail, that accused could not be produced in the court, due to shortage of escorts.
While there is a dedicated Escorts Cell of Goa Police at Mapusa, it might definitely happen sometimes that due to cases clubbing together, there could be shortage of escorts; or for that matter that, resources are deployed elsewhere due to exigency.
But going by the precedent set by the accused Vikat Bhagat, who has not even slim regards for the judicial process or the judicial system; it seems, this ws another attempt by the accused, to delay the proceedings, by being hand-in-gloves, with now world famous staff (for dereliction of duty) of Colvale Jail.
Thankfully, the Hon'ble judge did not relent and asked him to be produced via VC; which must have been to much for dismay for the accused.Danielle McLaughlin's case is of paramount importance, as it has been running since past 6 years.
If the State Government Of Goa or for that matter Goa Police, has even an iota of interest, in ensuring justice for the 28 year old girl, who was brutally raped and even more brutally murdered on the soil of Goa; then such flimsy "wireless messages" would not have happened.
While the attempts to delay and scuttle the case says a lot about the conduct of accused, the court proceedings also indirectly suggest, the conduct of Goa Police and State Administration, is deplorable and appalling.
