On 18th of March 2023, this publication highlighted how errant drivers, who result in death are booked often under Motor Vehicle Act of "rash and negligent driving"; wherein, actually they have committed a murder, and should be booked under harsher sections of IPC.
As reported in Herald Goa today, PSI Kavita Rawat of Goa Police arrested the errant Truck driver, under Section 304 of IPC (Death due to negligence, not amounting to culpable homicide), which resulted in the death of a 70 Yrs old elderly citizen.
As,requested by this publication from top Police authorities, this is the only way to deter drivers from driving rashly. To book them under Section 300.
While, still the more stringent Section 300 of IPC (Murder, not amounting to culpable homicide) as requested by this publication has not been applied, it is a welcome step in the direction, towards change for better.
While, there is no update yet, under which section, Paulak Shah,the murderer of Mr. John D'Souza has been booked.
But, the questions won't stop.
