Fisheries Department Of Goa, wants you to join a 6-Month Course on Fishing at Rs.1,000/month stipend.
Intended for stimulating Fishing as an occupation/profession among youngsters; no one with a sound mind would join this course.
Today is, Birthday of Fisheries Ministers of #Goa, Nilkanth Halarnkar.
As is the custom in Goa, of wishing Birthdays through Newspaper Adverts, the “Xapora Boat Owners Co-Operative Society Ltd” placed an advert.
Now, there is a second advert, by the Fisheries department of #Goa, of inviting applications for a 6 month Fisheries Course.
Those who would join this Fisheries Course, would be paid a stipend of Rs.1,000/- per month. Which is just about $12 per month.
The peak fishing season starts, weather permitting on 1st August, every year, sometimes even in early July.
Its the most lucrative period of Fishing in #Goa, when every Family member is involved in the activity and trade. It is the season of Prawns and Pomphret, which fetches the best of money for Fishermen.
What a Fisherman and his family can earn in months from July to September, if the season is good, can survive them throughout the year.
By all means, those wishing to join this course, would be majorly from the Fishing Community; but the question is who would join a “Fisheries Course” at peak Fishing Season, for just Rs.1,000 or $12 per month? Not even the wards of Xapora Society or their relatives would join?
Or for that matter, wards or relatives of any other Fisherman.
Just for context, the price of of Prawns in wholesale during July-August is Rs.450/ Kg.
Then what is the purpose?
Only a mentally unstable person, missing 2 limbs at least would join such a course of Fisheries Department Of Goa.
Blind Government of Goa and Blind Minister.
