Goa WRD & Goa PWD playing Pickle-Ball with Goans in the Summer of 2023.
Pickle-Ball is favourite game of CM Sawant. On 27th May he lied to the Prime Minister of India and other dignitaries, that Goa has achieved 100% Tap-Water disbursal to all homes in 2022 itself.
If you want to find out, how many dams and reservoirs, including, when they were commissioned and when they got completed, and at what cost, in the state of Goa; then you would normally want to visit the "Water Resources Department Goa" website.
But, one can be just anything, but get appalled at the state of information provided there.
There are 7 projects listed there, including, Major as well as minor irrigation projects. As one goes through each of these projects, all that one can find is the hydrological data on the pages; which only a Civil Engineering graduate can understand.
What a common person can understand, like:
1)When the Project was started
2) What was the estimated cost
3)What was the final cost
4) When did the project started
5)When did it finish
These are all AWOL.
If someone asks the WRD Minister of Goa, when did the Anjunem Dam Project started and finished; beyond any reasonable doubt, he would not be able to answer the question.
The landing page of the website of WRD-Goa, proudly says, "Managing Water Resources Since 1981!"; but no data available whatsoever, on how they have been managing the resources, since 1981.
There is no data available either on the rise of consumption of water, for both domestic and farming, as well as industrial purposes. And since that data is not available, surely there is no data, how the department has worked on coping with the demand.
Wikipedia offers 2 more, with total 5 dams and reservoirs, again the last one completed in 2000.
When Goa is drowning in water crisis,Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, in the recent Niti Ayog meeting organised on 27th May 2023 made a statement ; that Goa achieved 100% of "Every Home, With A Tap" in 2022 itself. If this has been the case, then why is this there water crisis?
There are so many references available online about the current crisis, that one just needs to query"Goa water crisis" online, and one would be deluged with the barrage.
Between Goa WRD and Goa PWD, they are playing Pickle Ball now; as in whom to blame.
Incidentally, PickleBall is now the favourite game of Chief Minister Sawant.
Once curious thing is that "Town and Country Planning" department has not been made a co-player. May be because, Pickle-Ball is a 2 - player game only.
