Everyone in India, loves Goa; but where is the Love for Goa
Yesterday night’s incident at Siolim, where an Indian resident of Mumbai, in an intoxicated state, started dancing on the road, after colliding with two vehicles; again puts forth the question of kind of Indian tourists come over here.
The person in question in the above report is named as Tushar, who is a resident of Bombay.
This person whom the author of this post recongnises very well, spends most of his time here at Goa.
His business is selling all kinds of aromatic and incense oil and he puts the stall at major flea markets and night events.
So, he earns his livelihood from the state and still scant regards towards the state and its citizens.
Mostly henis found in intoxicated state and his conduct on beaches also, have been derogatory to the state.
The matter of fact is that rule of law is the same everywhere in the country, and these tourists who come over here from other parts of India; also would be visiting elsewhere; then why do they behave such obnoxiously here in Goa ?
Scant regards to rules, no fear of law and complete apathy to the citizens of the State?
Now, let's break it down, to the 2 Types of Indian Tourists who flock to Goa.
Those who come over here for short duration, ranging from a weekend to a week. For them, it's a joyous occasion, to escape their mundane sorry lives of the city and they want to have all the "fun" (which is a much abused word now).
They are already high from the moment of departure, at the possibilities of "fun" and "enjoyment" that they would have finally. With the clock ticking and a big checklist, they don't want to miss anything and are constantly on a "higher state".
Coming from the notion already established and repeated by everyone, "Goa mein sab chalta hai!", they have scant regards to anything and everything.
Driving dangerously to make reels, Driving on the beaches to make reels, Accosting women tourists on the beach and elsewhere for a photo; they want to make the world knows, that they are having the "times of their lives".
Expecting Civic sense from them, and having the respect for the state, which allows them to have this "time" is completely a fool's notion. For them, Goa Is like a garbage bag; use and throw.
There is no affinity towards the state for them. For them, they are spending money here, and thus obliging the state and its citizens and thus can do anything.
Now, let's get back to 2nd Kind of Indian Tourists.
These are the Long liners, they spend the entire "Season" here and sometimes more.
Their livelihood and sustenance, is more or less based on what they do here. With most of the companies, recalling back their employees to office, the WFH lads are hardly here. These long liners Indian Tourists, usually engage is some kind of Tourist related business activities; directly or indirectly.
The most bewildering part is that, even such Desi Tourists have scant regards for the rule and the citizens of the State; which is providing them an opportunity to make money; while the local employment numbers of youth of Goa is languishing.
Why even such people, as exemplified in the Herald report of today, behave in the same manner ; as the weekenders.
Where is the responsibility towards the state, which is giving them livelihood and shelter?
Everyone loves Goa, but where is the love for Goa?
The Insta reels, FB Videos and Photos of both Weekender Indian Tourists and Long liners are exactly same, ironically. It's all about how much "fun" they are having sans civic sense and responsibility towards Goa.
The love for Goa is not demonstrated by how much fun, you are having here, through your reels and videos; it has to be demonstrated by your conduct, while you are in state. But this seems like, barking at a tree.
