The Death Of Nidhi Gupta at Arambol, Is A "Dowry Death" Murder.
Pernem Police of Goa Police travels to Delhi, in order to arrest Aakanksh Gupta, husband, and returns empty handed. This year, 1️⃣ Ex-DGP, 2️⃣ Ex-DIG and 2️⃣ SP of Goa Police were transferred to Delhi
28 Year old Nidhi Gupta died under mysterious circumstances at Lotus Sutra resort of Arambol Goa on the intervening night of 28-29th April 2022.
Just a year after her marriage to Aakanksh Gupta. Despite her father's pleas to Pernem Police for a thorough investigation for 2 Years, Goa Police did not even move a needle. Finally, he had to knock the doors of High Court for justice.
A hale and hearty 28 Year old woman dies a mysterious death, just within a year of marriage, at a tourist location and it does not ring any bells of suspicion in the minds of learned Police Officers, including IPS Officers of Goa is baffling.
After her daughter's death, Mr.Sushil Kumar Gupta also made a complaint to Goa Police that, just right after marriage, Nidhi was subjected to harassment by her husband and in-laws for dowry. Still, Goa Police behaved as an Ostrich.
The Indian Penal Code has laid out guidelines in case of suspicious and mysterious deaths such as of Ms. Nidhi Gupta.
Section 304B: Specifically deals with dowry deaths, defining it as the death of a woman caused by burns or other injuries within seven years of marriage due to cruelty or harassment for dowry. It carries a minimum punishment of seven years imprisonment, which can extend to life imprisonment.
Section 498A: Covers cruelty by husband or his relatives to a married woman. This includes harassment for dowry.
But then, miraculously the cause of death was proclaimed by Goa Medical College Forensic department only on 8th July 2024.
The death happened on 28-29th April 2022. So, technically Goa Police could not have done anything and they surely did nothing.
Ironically, the father of the deceased made the initial complaint to Deputy SP Ms.Shweta Singh, believing that being herself a woman, she would be highly compassionate to a fellow woman, who died in the prime of her youth.
Why it took the doctors of GMC 27 months to deliver the "cause of death" is something which is itself in a mystery, and immediately raises suspicions.
This is despite the fact that, Deputy Collector of Pernem Taluka sent 5 reminders to GMC Forensic department, but to no avail. So, even the Doctors of GMC have no respect to the directions of a Deputy Collector and would do things their own way?
Should they not be booked for dereliction of duty and denial of justice?
After all, Justice delayed is Justice denied. But then, this is Goa. It's just too much to expect.
If these doctors of GMC had any inkling that harsh action could be taken against them, they would not have sat over the "Cause of Death" report for 27 Months.
They knew, nothing would happen to them and nothing has happened to them indeed.
The not so bewildering fact is that, the Forensic doctors of GMC who sat on the report for 27 Months, also noticed distinct and clear marks of injuries at 3 places in the body.
Is this why, the report was delayed?
Well, it seems so, because this makes it an open and shut case.
Because, there is no way, a hale and hearty 28 year old individual could die of "Bilateral Pulmonary Oedema" all of a sudden.
Now, the learned men of Goa Police, who are often addressed as "Elite" by crony publications and the conduct of its erstwhile DGP has been proved to be utterly malicious, have turned again to Goa Medical College again, asking them for exact cause of death.
Now, this request of Goa Police would invariably go to the same Forensic Doctors of GMC who sat on the previous report for 27 Months. How many more months they would take to come to conclusions, is any sane person's guess.
Meanwhile, after registering a FIR under Section 302 and not under stringent Section 304B, which deals with Dowry death, after receipt of viscera report and being certified by Deputy Collector, Pernem; Goa Police leisurely goes to Delhi in order to arrest Aakanksh Gupta, believing that he would be waiting for him at his home, with cups of tea and biscuits. But, he was not there and they return empty handed.
Goa Police has a very long standing relationship with Delhi Police. Most of the IPS rank Officers come to Goa after service from Delhi Police, or they go to Delhi Police after being transferred.
This year only, Goa Police sent 2 SP and 2 DIG and one DGP to Delhi Police. In spite of this, there help was not sought in tracking and tracing Aakanksh Gupta, is most bewildering. How difficult was that when ex-DGP of Goa is now a Special Commissioner of Police at Delhi?
It is a very basic common sense, in law enforcement to take help from Police of other states, when going for arrest or investigation. One can formally and even informally request help for a "Track and Trace" prior to moving, so that, mission is successful.
In fact, SDPO Pernem (earlier SDPO of Mapusa) Jivba Dalvi who is often referred as "Singham of Goa" based on the character of a very popular Hindi movie "Singham" shared a very close rapport with previous SP of North Goa, who incidentally has a "Nidhi" in his name. Still, he could not utilise his "good offices".
This raises further questions at the seriousness of Goa Police in ensuring justice for the victim and his family.
A few days back, Mr.Sushil Kumar Gupta father of the deceased filed a further complaint to Pernem Police stating that, he believes Nidhi was killed by her husband after smothering her.
A formal complaint, with conviction could have been made only after taking medico-legal advice from learned sources. The complaint also got delayed because 27 months delay in the receipt of cause of death.
Now, let's circle back to the cause of death of Nidhi, as stated by GMC Doctors: "Bilateral Pulmonary Oedema, associated with intra alveolar haemorrhages".
Bilateral pulmonary edema is a condition where excess fluid builds up in both lungs. This fluid accumulates in the tiny air sacs (alveoli), makes it difficult for oxygen to pass into the bloodstream. As a result, breathing becomes labored and uncomfortable and leads to death ultimately.
There are many causes of this condition, but for a perfectly healthy 28 Year old woman to die due to this naturally, is impossible.
What is "Intra Alveolar Haemorrhage" ?
Intra-alveolar hemorrhages refer to bleeding within the alveoli, which are the tiny air sacs in the lungs where oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged. Essentially, it's bleeding inside the lungs.
Again, there are many causes of it occurring, but almost all of them are not possible in a 28 Year old healthy woman, with no prior such medical history; except one and that's TRAUMA, ie injury to the chest.
Yes, smothering can indeed lead to intra-alveolar hemorrhages.
When someone is smothered, the lack of oxygen can cause significant stress on the body. This stress can rupture small blood vessels in the lungs, resulting in bleeding into the alveoli and thus death by "Bilateral Pulmonary Oedema".
Having worked on hundreds of such cases, Mr.Jivba Dalvi (SDPO Pernem Police) would have made contacts with many eminent doctors, who could confirm this fact.
And, he could have acted on this presumption, in the interest of providing justice to the bereaved and aggrieved father of Ms.Nidhi Gupta.
After all, the onus of proving oneself innocent lies on the accused.
But in this case, it seems Goa Police has assumed the innocence of Aakanksh Gupta, from Day 1.
Nidhi would have been absolutely delighted at the fact, that suddenly the things are taking a change for better and her husband is finally profusing love, after harassing her for dowry, and now she is going to Goa to celebrate her 1st Wedding Anniversary.
The Dream Destination of every Indian, for a celebration. Little did the innocent soul would have suspected, what lay for her ahead.
The Vasco "Vapour Cloud" Murder case, where a Mother and her newly wed daughter were killed by a Navy personnel and the case of Nidhi Gupta; raises doubt that whether Goa is becoming a destination for "Dowry Deaths" too.
Specially, if one sees the conduct of Goa Police in both the cases; No compassion , No empathy.
Every year, thousands of recently married couple come to Goa (including Mandrem and Arambol) to celebrate, specially from North of India. Should the ladies be cautious about such trips in future?
It all depends on how Goa Police conducts themselves in Nidhi Gupta murder case.
When Tourism is the mainstay of Goa, is it not the duty of Tourism Minister's duty to intervene and see through that state does not suffer a bad name?
Forget, the Chief Minister.
When next time, a newly married daughter tells her father, she is going to Goa for a vacation, would she be happy or insanely worried with anxiety?
