The tryst with Herald Goa: 99 Goa finds an honourable mention in Herald Goa
Sunday, 14th May 2023; Herald Goa publishes a full page report on the level of Justice in the state of Goa, based on the initial article of 99 Goa, on India Justice Report 2022.
The tryst with O Herald Goa started way back more than a decade, when after a 11 days long visit to Goa, in October 2010; I started reading the newspaper and articles online, after being overwhelmed with hangover of the visit.
That was the way to keep myself getting connected with Goa, and feel at home, or rather,at Goa.
While subscribing to a paper copy of newspaper is easy, but instead, I always make a walk to the vendor to collect my copy, and pay in cash.The whole experience of walking to the vendor, asking for your copy and paying in cash, is an emotion itself. The one daily sacred ritual which makes you looking forward to it, everyday. The one which gives you a "spring" in your feet, to rise up every morning.
After moving to Goa for good,many years back, the only newspaper which I deeply respect and read daily, is Herald Goa.
Though I experimented with a few other local newspapers too, along with Herald Goa, very soon, it came to me, that those were mere the mouth-pieces of the establishment, and the quality of Journalism, which could bring back Goa to glory days, was lacking severely, and then I stopped reading them altogether.
Herald Goa stands for honesty and truth; standing with the common citizens of Goa, which otherwise could have lacked a voice, to express their feelings and grievance. The voice of people of Goa, as the masthead rightly says.When I started reading Herald, way back in 2010, I never imagined, even in my wildest of dreams that, I would find an honorable mention in the newspaper, which I respect and trust the most, and which has been always an inspiration and a motivation.
To say that Herald Goa has been the inspiration to start 99 Goa, is an honest truth. Why 99 Goa was started is elongated more deeply in the "About" section of this publication. And from this year onward, when the Substack publication has been consistent with publishing, it has been an endeavour to bring forth the truth, which Herald Goa strives for too.
Today, On 14th of May 2021 Herald Goa published a full page report on the state of Justice in Goa, based on 99 Goa's original article.
Surreal and serendipitous, an undesired dream came true. Please read this Herald Goa full-page report.
Coming back full circle, this kind and honorable mention is again going to be a motivation and inspiration to write for truth and bring forth people's voice.
