Union Minister Shripad Naik should resign...
Minister had only 1 job, to protect the most vital interest of people of Goa, and he has failed.
The Union Minister of Port & Tourism Shripad Naik's statement of yesterday regarding the Karnataka's DPR (Detailed Project Report) approval by CWC (Central Water Commission is hilarious to say the least.
As the Guardian Minister of Goa at Central Government, he has above all, one job to do, and that's to ensure that vital interests of Goa is protected. And he has failed to do the very same thing.
Mhadei or Mandovi river is the lifeline of Goa to say the least, where almost 50% of the Goans receive their water from her.
Central Water Commission has given approval to Karnataka's DPR to divert the water of river Mhadei/Mandovi for Kalasa-Bhandura project.Needless to say, if water from Mandovi would be diverted, it's a huge blow for Goa.
Water scarcity is a huge burning problem in Goa at all the times of the year and not only during summers. Lots of taps have been installed, but all around the year, you could listen to complaints from ordinary citizens of taps being dry for more than 2 weeks at a time, and sometimes, for more than a month.
The honourable minister, Shripad Naik is now behaving as if he is not at all fault, and the decision has come to him as a surprise too.
Mandovi while being the lifeline, is an emotion for Goans. What could have been a bigger job than protecting her, for the minister?
And now, all the talks of leading delegation to PM and HM, urging all politicians to come together to fight for Goa interest is nothing but empty rhetoric.
While saying, "He is ready to resign..." if the interests of State of Goa is not protected, it feels so empty. Feels like it is only to tone down the people's raging emotions, before they start clambering for his resignation, after all, of what use he has been to People of Goa?
